KP Law Attorneys Barbara Carboni and Jonathan D. Witten were panelists in a webinar held on March 27, 2020 by the Massachusetts chapter of the American Planning Association and the Massachusetts Association of Planning Directors. Attended by over 250 participants and entitled “Keeping Planning Responsive to COVID-19,” the webinar focused on issues of immediate concern to city and town planners working to keep municipalities compliant with statutory requirements for public hearings and other aspects of the land use permitting process. Attorneys Carboni and Witten presented and fielded questions on topics including emergency modifications to the Open Meeting Law, virtual meetings and hearings, enabling public participation, and alternatives to proceedings with public hearings during the declared emergency. Their presentation, other KP Law guidance materials, and a recording of the webinar will be posted on the APA-MA website.
