Attorney Braun joined the firm in 2019.  She has an active litigation practice and assists the firm’s clients in all facets of environmental and land use, elections, and constitutional law.  She has secured representative victories before judges of the Massachusetts Land Court and Superior Court, the Massachusetts Appeals Court and Supreme Judicial Court, and the U.S. First Circuit Court of Appeals on a wide range of matters.  She also has significant experience representing municipalities at election recounts and in litigation concerning election practices.

Prior to joining the firm, Attorney Braun clerked for the Hon. Justice Barbara A. Lenk of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court.  Her experience also includes a judicial internship with the Hon. Allison D. Burroughs of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, as well as a legal internship with the Environmental Protection Division of the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office.

Attorney Braun was selected as a 2023 and 2024 Rising Star by Super Lawyers© and as a member of the 2023-2024 Leadership Academy for the Massachusetts Bar Association.  She currently serves on the Massachusetts Bar Association’s Public Law Council, and previously held positions with the Massachusetts Municipal Lawyers Association’s New Lawyers Committee and Boston Bar Association’s Energy and Environmental Law Committee. Attorney Braun also serves as a Conservation Commissioner for the City of Chelsea.  She was named as a Top Woman of Law leadership scholar by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly.

Representative Matters

  • Oak Ridge Lincoln Planning Board (Land Use, Appellate) and Oak Ridge v. Lincoln Conservation Commission (Conservation, Appellate): Successfully defended the Planning Board’s issuance of an open space and recreational trail easement in both the Land Court and the Appeals Court, and successfully defended the Conservation Commission’s determinations regarding wetlands protection delineations in both the Superior Court and Appeals Court.
  • Jerry L. Ryan City of Salem (Elections): After successfully second-chairing a nine-day bench trial, the Superior Court found in favor of the City on all counts of the Plaintiff’s Complaint regarding the conduct of the local election, affirming the integrity of the election held in the City of Salem under the Commonwealth’s election laws.  The Plaintiff’s appeal was dismissed by the Massachusetts Appeals Court.
  • LambertCity of Haverhill (Firearms): Successfully defended the Police Chief’s decision to deny a LEOSA card to carry firearms across state lines to a retired police officer with a history of domestic violence on the ground that the officer did not retire “in good standing” entitling him to a LEOSA card.
  • Northborough Marlborough (General Municipal): Successfully defended against a $23 million complaint for damages for use of a wastewater plant, including legal briefing which convinced a special master to reverse his prior decision on interest owed, ultimately saving the client over $1 million in compound interest payments.
  • Teleen Dennis Conservation Commission (Environmental): The Superior Court entered judgment in favor of the Commission, upholding its denial of a permit for constructing a structure under the local Wetlands Protection Bylaw due to its adverse impact on shellfish and fish habitats.
