Practice Areas: Labor and Employment, Workers Compensation, General Municipal
Attorney Zessin’s practice focuses on public sector labor and employment law and advising clients on complex personnel matters. He provides a wide-range of services to municipalities, housing and redevelopment authorities, regional transit authorities, and other public sector employers on labor and personnel matters, including employee benefit plans. He represents these entities in labor disputes before state and federal courts and agencies, drafts and negotiates collective bargaining agreements, and in representation before the American Arbitration Association, the Massachusetts Department of Labor Relations, the National Labor Relations Board, the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the Joint Labor Management Committee. While maintaining a diverse practice, he regularly counsels clients on traditional labor relations issues, including grievance processing and arbitration, responding to unfair labor practice charges, complex contract disputes and election campaigns. Attorney Zessin also represents employers and self-insurers in workers compensation claims before the Massachusetts Department of Industrial Accidents.
In addition to his labor and employment practice, Attorney Zessin assists clients with a variety of general municipal law issues, including town meetings, municipal charters and by-laws, conflict of interest, public records, the Open Meeting Law, and municipal finance issues. Prior to joining the firm, Attorney Zessin represented public and private sector bargaining units throughout New England in labor, employment, and litigation matters before various administrative agencies and state and federal forums.
